Forrest Gump

Based on a novel by Winston Groom written in 1986 by Winston Groom, Forrest Gump is an Academy
Award winning 1994 film. The film earned $677 million worldwide during its theatrical run. Forrest Gump
earned 13 Academy Award nominations, of which it won six, including Best Picture, Best Visual Effects,
Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), and Best Actor (Tom Hanks).



Forrest Gump tells the story of a simple man (gump) and his life experiences meeting historical figures, i
nfluencing popular culture and experiencing first-hand historic events while primarily unaware of their
significance due to his lower than average intelligence.
