Billiards/Pool
The term "pool" comes from "poolrooms," where people gambled off-track on horse races. They were called
poolrooms as money was "pooled" to determine the odds.

Today the word "pool" is referred to a billiards game with pockets. Although Billiards is still played on pocketless
tables, the majority of people in the USA refer to pool as playing either 9-ball, 8-ball, one-pocket, banks or
straight pool with the most popular game being 8-ball.
